1. Find: Use your text book, the sites on the right or sites that you find for yourself to describe in your own words the words in the list

2. Note: Use AppleWorks Word Processor or Microsoft Word (see Launcher on desktop) to type out your meanings.

3. Print: Each of you make a printout for your binder

Where does heat come from? Questions for group activity

Responses to be included in individual notebooks.

1. How do you heat your house? Take a count in your group.
2. What sources of heat do you use to cook your food? Take a count in your group.
3. How do you think the school is heated?
4. What are all the possible sources of heat energy that you can think of?
5. Use the Internet to find out what sources of heat energy are used in Alberta. Which source does most of Calgary's energy come from (this might surprise you!)?
6. Choose 1 appliance (e.g. hair dryer, fridge, computer): how would you save energy when you use this appliance?
7. What problems can come out of using energy from heat? Pick one and discuss how society might be able to solve it.
